It’s been two days now. I’m sure everyone knows about the “Halo” TF2 update. If not, you’ve been living under a rock and should read this Post from the TF2 Official Blog.
There was a great deal of debate on the server about Valve’s decision to “punish” 4.5% of the community for exploiting the game. Which is what it was, an exploit. Not hacking or cheating, just an exploit. That’s the only agreement the “I lost my hats and can’t get a halo” bitches will get from me.
Now, you do have the same entitled attitude that hackers and cheaters have. You were running a thrid party app like hackers and cheaters do. Unlike hackers and cheaters however, what you did didn’t effect other people’s game play. What you did didn’t give you any advantage during game play. You’re better then a player that exploits a map for advantage, but I’d still classify it as an exploit.
I don’t want to hear about Valve “Approved” idle servers. There is no such thing. If I want run a server for 32 players in which a plug-in and map mimic playing the game, I maybe a sad depressing person BUT it’s my server. Valve has ALWAYS had a hands-off approach to server administration. It is your server to do with as you like. Example; Valve’s official policy is against racism, yet they’re not shutting down the 90% of community servers that practice racism. A private server and a third-party app are two totally separate things.
I also heard a lot talk about no “warning” from Valve. ARE YOU PEOPLE MORONS? ( This question is rhetorical, you are.) This is not the first time Valve has done this. Case in point, early this year the Tf2 Official Blog & TF2 Offiical Blog (follow the links for my point). Those times Valve was NICE (if I was Valve I’d have just banned your accounts, but I digress). Now, not even a year later you, greedy bitches are at it again.
That is really what this is about. Not Third-Party programs or your “right” to do as you please with the game you bought. It’s about greed. This is how greed, and NOT Valve got you punished. How you wanted something so petty as a fucking hat. Which, unlike unlock-able weapons, give you NO advantage or bonus when playing the game; and it bit you in the ass.
This one stings because Valve embarrassed you. Not anonymously like the other times. No, this time you got called out in font of the WHOLE community and you damn well deserved it.
Because, even this time, no one really got punished. You still have your accounts. You can still EARN hats like everyone else. Hell, in 2 weeks no one is even going to care about this. The halos will get old and everything goes back to normal.
You deserved it because you were WARNED. Two times. Don’t say you weren’t. Do you have the same internet I do? Hell, you probably even laughed about those n00bs that lost there items and achievements the first time.
You deserved it because even now you feel so entitled you want server plug-ins to punish everyone who wasn’t a greedy bitch.
You deserved it because NO ONE CAN GET A DAMN HAT! Did you really think you were the only ones? I agree that the drop system is broken, but exploiting the game? Really?
Finally, you deserved it because you’re a bitch. Suck it up. Live with it. Say what you want. I don’t give a fuck. You’re a bitch and you’re only making it worse by being a whiny bitch. The less you complain, boycott, post on forums, etc. the quicker this will all go away.
Now on a lighter note Hitler wasn’t happy about the update either (and everyone knows he’s a bitch)…

LOL, it’s funny tho, that whining about whining isn’t really whining. I think it was a funny joke on Valve’s part. They said that the idler wasn’t against their policy, and they made a policy to address it. That they did so by rewarding everyone who abstained is hilarious. My issue is that they waited so long to comment on the situation. In my eyes, that amounted to an implicit condonement of the idle program. As it stands, they specifically called out the 3rd party nature of the program as what they cannot tolerate and that’s what their policy addresses. Note that the future punishment for violating said policy isn’t a ban, just removal of items. Valve acknowledges that it isn’t cheating or hacking, or even an exploit, as its merely using a 3rd party app which they have (rightly) a problem with. I didn’t lose anything, no weapons, no hats, only the chance to get the halo. I don’t much care. But I did have to listen the the other cry-babies and bitches complaining about complaining because I said outloud that Valve should’ve come out alot earlier with a position on the matter. The issue with unlocking weapons early was address the same week if not the same day.
Nice site over at tf2items.com, and this one is my alt.
